The Darren Weir-trained Tosen Stardom dominates the pre-field Kennedy Mile 2017 odds on the nominated milers set to face off the Flemington feature on Victoria Derby Day this Saturday.

Back when early entries for the Group 1 $1 million Kennedy Mile (1600m), formerly the Cantala Stakes, closed on October 23 ace Victorian trainer Weir nominated for six stablemates.
Of those it is Japanese import Tosen Stardom topping the early Kennedy Mile betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au, the seven-year-old Deep Impact stallion at $4.80 to continue his winning form.
Last start the horse won the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) with 57.5kg from barrier 16 of 18 at Caulfield on October 14.
Currently allocated 58kg in the Kennedy Mile weights, Tosen Stardom will need to carry extra weight but was impressive from out wide in the lead-up and can improve.
Many of Weir’s other nominees are unlikely to run in the Kennedy Mile field including the original 58.5kg top weight Humidor who instead backs-up from his second to Winx in the 2017 Cox Plate on November 7 stepping-up to the two miles of the Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m).
The other Weir runner that could feature in the Kennedy Mile this Saturday after a barnstorming return to form on Cox Plate Day is Lucky Hussler ($8).
Breaking a notable drought the veteran eight-year-old flew home by three lengths under 59kg at weight-for-age in the Group 2 Crystal Mile (1600m) at The Valley.
It was an impressive effort from the 2015 Toorak Handicap winner who now gets his chance to continue his comeback.
Following Tosen Stardom in the futures Kennedy Mile odds at $6.50 is a stablemate to now triple Cox Plate winner Winx, the Chris Waller-trained Tom Melbourne.
Tom Melbourne presents as a light-weight Kennedy Mile hopeful currently allocated only 53.5kg.
The Dylan Thomas seven-year-old enjoyed a spring of second place efforts, including behind Happy Clapper in Randwick’s Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m), before a sixth from a wide draw (15) in the Toorak Handicap beaten under three lengths.
Waller also has Egg Tart right in Kennedy Mile contention, the four-year-old daughter of Sebring also a Toorak Handicap graduate when three lengths seventh carrying 53.5kg.
The dual Oaks winner (Schweppes Oaks – Queensland Oaks) is on just 52kg in the Kennedy Mile before the final acceptances and is out to be the first mare since Divine Madonna (2006) to salute.
Other standout hopes in the latest Kennedy Mile odds online include Lindsay Park’s Toorak Handicap runner-up Sovereign Nation and Waller’s Road To Rock six-year-old All Our Roads.
