Moonee Valley Racecourse is host to a sold-out Ladbrokes Cox Plate Day 2017 meeting this afternoon in Melbourne, the most notable scratching from the program being Kaspersky from the Group 1 leaving Winx with seven rivals in the $3 million classic.

Over 30,000 spectators are rolling into The Valley for the bumper 10 race meeting headlined by Chris Waller’s brilliant mare Winx shooting for a hat-trick of wins in the Group 1 $3 million Ladbrokes Cox Plate (2040m).
It is a partly cloudy day in Melbourne, but with zero chance of any notable rainfall the current Good (3) Moonee Valley track rating is set to remain across the afternoon.

The warm-up to Winx racing in the 2017 Cox Plate field begins at 12:10pm (AEDT), and after the Hall of Famer joins Kingston Town with a trio of wins in the Australasian weight-for-age championship, the final race jumps at 5:45pm (AEDT).
The Winx race is scheduled as Moonee Valley Race 9 at 5:00pm (AEDT) and the official Ladbrokes Cox Plate 2017 field is down to just eight runners after the withdrawal of $81 roughie international Kaspersky.
Winx remains at $1.16 in Cox Plate betting at Ladbrokes.com.au, the six-year-old daughter of Street Cry moving into barrier five as she looks for her twenty-second consecutive victory and 15th Group 1 success that sees her equal the all-time record of Black Caviar.
