Talented mare Winx has seemingly returned to racing in typically scintillating form this time and has continued to form from opening Chipping Norton Stakes odds of $1.45 to current figure as clear $1.35 favourites and market mover.

Capping a standout 2015 autumn and winter campaign with a maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2200m), Winx resumed in spring for an impressive first-up win in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) before comfortably beating a strong field to the line in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m).

Undauntedly producing a career-best performance to date to win the featured Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) in late October, the Street Cry mare was barely troubled on her way to the line in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) a fortnight ago.

Confirmed to be partnered by leading hoop Hugh Bowman once more, Winx will leave from the central barrier 8 and still offers some value at current Chipping Norton Stakes odds.

Interestingly figuring as the only other runner current available at 2016 Chipping Norton Stakes odds of less-than $10, Hartnell is a proven first-up performer and is worth consideration for a bet at a $7 quote.

Storming onto the Australian racing scene when finishing an agonizingly-close second to stable mate Contributer in last year’s edition of the Chipping Norton, Hartnell comfortably won each of the Group 3 Sky High Stakes (2000m) and Group 1 The BMW (2400m) before finishing fourth in the Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m).

Resuming in spring for fourth in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m), the Authorized gelding ran sixth in the Group 2 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) and fifth in the Cox Plate before a luckless run in the Melbourne Cup on the first Tuesday of November.

Hartnell has been confirmed to be partnered by leading Godolphin hoop James McDonald and will leave from barrier 7 on Saturday.

Mongolian Khan has not been seen at the races since charging home to win the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) in mid-October but currently sits on the third line of betting at current $13 Chipping Norton Stakes odds.

A three-time Group 1 winner Mongolian Khan resumed in spring for seventh in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) before placing fourth in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) and third in the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m), leading into the Caulfield Cup.

Drawn ideally in barrier 4, the Holy Roman Emperor entire has been confirmed to be partnered by Kerrin McEvoy on Saturday and arguably offers the best value for money at $2.45 to finish in the first three.

Godolphin runners Magic Hurricane ($31) and Hauraki ($15) have both drifted in Chipping Norton Stakes betting markets while the David Hayes and Tom Dabernig-trained Dibayani has held firm at his $15 quote.
